Are Real Nappies easy to use?

Real Nappies come in various styles. Many are shaped-to-fit and fasten with poppers, velcro or a plastic gripper which holds the nappy in place. The nappies are covered by waterproof, breathable wraps. There is no need to soak or boil-wash, and if you do not want to buy and wash your own nappies, a laundry service can regularly deliver clean nappies and take away dirty ones.

People laugh at me when I tell them I do not use disposables. Are they right?

Many people have little or no knowledge of Real Nappys and almost certainly will have not used them. Give Real Nappies a try and make up your own mind.

I spoke to someone who tried cloth nappies and they gave up after a short while. Why?

The chances are they were using traditional terry nappies or cheap quality Real Nappies.

Don't Real Nappies leak?

If they are applied properly they leak no more than disposables (if at all!).

Do Real Nappies cause nappy rash?

No. Nappy rash depends on the number of times a nappy is changed not the nappy material. Even babies with sensitive skin may benefit from cloth based Real Nappies if they are allergic to the chemicals found in disposables.

Isn't washing Real Nappies a load of hassle?

No, not really. Take off the liner, pop the poo down the loo, put the nappies in the washing machine and there you are, If this still does not appeal then you can use a laundry service.

Why use shaped nappies?

Shaped nappies are more reliable and comfortable. Although more expensive than non-fitted nappies they are still cheaper to use than disposables.
